This Labour Day, Angela and I spent the weekend at the Verhoeven's cottage on Baptiste Lake, near Bancroft. The very first night we were treated to one of the best aurora borealis shows that I have ever seen. The cottage is on the lake and it faces due north, so the view was fantastic. I quickly grabbed my camera and tripod and did my best to photograph the event before it disappeared. So, this is a view from the dock across Baptiste Lake on that night.

This was shot with the Rebel XT + kit lens at 18mm, ISO-800, f/3.5, 18 second exposure. I would have preferred to use my new Canon 1.8 prime lens, but unfortunately I didn't pack it as I wasn't expecting to do any astrophotography.
